The Main Event was established in 2008 by Rhonda E. Caldwell, a graduate of UNC Charlotte. With over ten years of experience, Rhonda Caldwell has featured in NFocus Magazine as one of Charlotte’s Top 5 Event Planners, Today’s Charlotte Woman, Charlotte Business Journal, Charlotte Observer, Pride Magazine, and The Charlotte Post. The Main Event’s management and design of the Hearst Tower Grand Opening for Bank of America won the International Special Events Society (ISES) EVIE Award for “Best Corporate Event.” The American Business Women’s Association Charlotte Chapter recognized her with the Woman of the Year Award, listing her as the youngest member to receive this honor in 2008. She is also the recipient of the 2015 Charlotte Business Journal Women in Business Award and a 2014 Maya Angelou Women Who Lead Honoree. In 2018, Caldwell won the Small Business Enterprise of the Year Award for the City of Charlotte Crown Award. Ms. Caldwell is an active member of the International Live Events Association, Charlotte Regional Visitors Authority, Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc., and The Links, Incorporated. Her community involvement includes President, Women’s Inter-Cultural Exchange, M&F Bank City Advisory Board, Girl Scouts of America, UNC Charlotte Alumni Association, Brown, Caldwell, Couthen Scholarship, and Dorothy Count Scoggins Mentoring & Social Justice Program.
